Barbara Harris has been a licensed Professional Counselor and Therapist for over 20 years. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Southern California in Counseling and Gerontology in 1981.
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Barbara is married and has 2 adult daughters. She moved to Tennessee in 1985 and is licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Professional Mental Health Counselor. She has worked in a variety of health care settings, most recently at the Clinical Assessment Center at St. Francis Hospital. She has worked with families in crisis and her experience is broad. Barbara is interested in treating children, adolescents, adults and seniors. She is comfortable dealing with spiritual issues too. Her goal is to help facilitate client problem solving to enhance peace in their lives. Her approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness training and resolving grief and anger in a variety of ways.
Children, adolescents, adults and seniors with depression, anxiety, past trauma and relationship conflicts. She is trained in providing assistance with late-life issues, caregiving stress and chronic illness. Also Barbara can treat ADHD issues, gender identity issues and dysfunctional family dynamics.
