Dr. Betty Winter joined the SCC staff as a counselor in November 2010. She previously had served on the SCC Board for four years. Betty has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1994 and recently retired from the Memphis Police Department where she worked with both victims and perpetrators of crime.
She also worked with police officers and their families dealing with work related problems including conflict resolution, suicide intervention, crisis counseling, alcohol and drug issues, relationship problems, and anger management. She teaches in the Counseling Department at the University of Memphis as an adjunct graduate professor. She counsels and teaches adults in both groups and individual sessions dealing with topics of depression, trauma, relationships, conflict resolution, divorce, anger/emotional control, and creative/spiritual development. She is a member of First Baptist Church where she serves as a deacon and a teacher.
